Aftermarket 2WD Fuel Pressure Regs?
Right, im spending a bit of money on the old saph, and im thinking of a new fuel pressure regularot, as it has been suggested that its not upto scratch on the rising rate after 20psi.
I've seen quite a few fancy ones around, but the question is are they any good?
for example ive seen this i quite like:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB..._promot_widget
but is it going to be any good on my stg3 2wd?
Ideally i want one which looks better than a standard one, even if it only works the same, and without costing the earth.
What should you look out for when buying one? and would the one linked be any good?

If they rise more than the std one yes they will give more fuel, but as the chips, especially aftermarket ones are adjusted to 12:1 where max power is the power will go DOWN, mix will get richer, you will start wasting fuel, wash the bores of oil etc.
The std one is there for a reason, it is a known pressure so the chip is written with this in mind, if you now up the pressure the width of the injector signal is the same, so the above happens.

Cheers for the reply Tabetha
If its adjustable cant it be set to the standard pressure, and operate the same as a standard one?
Obviously i dont want any damage from using one, im just not 100% clear on what your saying

He's basically saying that a standard one rises at a known rate...as your manifold pressure increases...
so say with a standard reg set at 3.5bar...the manifold pressure rises by 1 bar and the standard reg is now working at 4.5bar.
On an aftermarket one if the rate of increase is different you may see 5bar/4bar/4bar/6bar or whatever fuel pressure at exactly the same point. So you would need a remap once it's fitted to check it out.
oh and the standard regulator is very good, it works absolutely fine well past 20psi on any turbo!
i'd advise you to keep it

Thats clearer
looks like its going to be a new standard one then, just one last one, if its got a 1:1 rising rate such as:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB..._promot_widget
would that one work in a way like the standard one?
Cheers for your patience
