Alternator Wiring
Hi, im using a 90amp alternator from a 4x4 saph cossie for a different application, the previous alternator i was using had 3 connections but the cossie one only has 2, the connections are marked as B+ and D+.
Am I right in thinking that the B+ goes to battery positive and the D+ goes to the small wire leading from the main car wiring loom (possibly the batteyr warning light?
Also as my battery is in the boot of my car could i connect the alternator-battery wire straight to the starter motor battery cable terminal.
Please help - Ross

HI you guessed right!!
B+ is battery connection, D+ is after feild diodes and field current so goes to the warning light.
The connection you describe is fine to do, just make sure it has decent insulation, so it does not rub through anywhere as battery is powerfull enough to start fire if shorted.
I assume it is a BOSCH alternator from these symbols ?
