Torque settings and run in period
I am changing the headgasket on my sierra cosworth 4x4 for a grp A item and using the standard Ford head bolts.
Can someone confirm these torque figures I have are correct:
stage 1 45 to 50 Nm
stage 2 Turn 180 degrees +\- 10 degrees
stage 3 Check for 110 Nm
Also does a new headgasket needs running in for a certain amount of miles or not? The car is stage 2 (greens, 3 bar map sensor, chip etc).
Hope someone can tell as I dont want to do the job again!

The figures I have are as follows,
STAGE 1 30-35NM
STAGE 2 65-70NM
STAGE 3 80-90 DEGREES.
There was some confusion over this as FORD did apparently ammend these settings, in a TSB(?)
I took my setting from the DISC SIERRAS RS COSWORTH WORKSHOP MANUAL.
Ford then later issued a completely different set of figures!!.

Just checked with someone and the TWO different figures actually amount to the same "TORQUE YEILD", on the bolts, which is roughly 90lb ft as a final setting so these will be fine.

You dont run a head gasket in matey....there is only one thing you ever run in on an engine, and that's the bores....everything else being run in is a myth....
