As title says are they easy 2 do cause mine is really noisey.Are they the same as a 2wd sierra cause ive done 1 of these ages ago on my old sierra i used 2 own.

Don't know if the same bearing but easy to do, only this time there is a drivsahft to take out first that's all.

ps I am fairly sure they will be the same but not 100%, they could be a heavier duty version as having to transmit drive as well.

different bearings from my past experience
and also a bit of a skill to get just right otherwise you tend to strip the threads off teh end of teh shaft when you tighten it up again

easier to refit than to remove as you may need to get a puller to pull the hub off the end

on the other hand, they both tighten up the same way so

I had a hard time fitting mine, no garage at the time and it was dark by 4pm, not to mention COLD!!!

Not the same... go to a motor factors, much cheaper there than ford

Good opportunity to give your abs sensors and the toothed ring on the drive shaft a good clean

Ive got my wheel bearing just need the time 2 do it now.Will take it 2 work next week n do it.Just hope its easy 2 do n nothing else breaks.

easiest to remove the nut and hub flange while everythign is on the car
then remove the hub assembly
when you put it back together again i found it's easier to put the cv back through the slot first and nip up the bearing before refitting the hub assembly to the car, bolting things back up again and then doing the torquing up on the nut

also, remove the brakes and you can then fit a steel rim to the car which means you can use the wieght of the car to turn the nut both for undoing an tightening up again

Well im gonna take it off next week n have a go.Do the abs sensors normaly come out ok or do they snap.

I tried to remove one(abs sensor) but gave up as it was braver than my wallet!!

A liberal application of WD40 and left to soak overnight, plus gentle persuasion with pliers worked for me

ABS sensors are 95 from Ford for ONE!!!

Be careful with them, they're not too hard to remove but putting them back in you'll be lucky if ABS light doesn't come on!

if you can twist them they might come out
but then again, they might not
if you are taking the bearings out anyway then you might be able to push them from the inside out, but you've got to be brave about it

sounds like a nightmare 2 me i hope it comes out ok.Does anyone know how tight the drive shaft nut has 2 be on the front.

Tighten it up tight with a powerbar then rewind it right back slack, re-tighten with your fingers and the socket. Stick the split pin in and jobs a good'un.

That's the way I was taught to do it anyway when I was an apprentice

between 180 and 200 lb/ft from memory, but it has been about 5 years sicne i did one

the way you say is for the split pin version, these ones need the nut staking/bent over to stop them from coming undone

Well ive got the hub off. A.B.S sensor seems tight need a new bottom arm cause ball joint rubber split.Went 2 start car 2 have a look n c where my oil leak is coming from,n now my engine wont start.i think fuel might b stickin.Bloody car

I just read a topic in fmcn.no about 4x4 wheelbearings.... A member have listed a partnumber wich goes for ALL 4x4 Sierras, 2.0 2.8 and cosworth.. no body mentioned 2wd.

I took my hub off last nite n the but the wheel bolts 2 just come straight out of the bearing. I just hope its the bearing thats worn n not the bit the wheel bolts 2.All this hassle cause of my old buckled wheels.

Well i went 2 fit my wheel bearing today n found that the new bearing slides up n down the hub easily so i need a new hub now.110 quid from ford gonna get a complete hub with the bit the shocker bolts 2 n put the complete lot on.

Does it matter if the wheels are on the ground or not when tightening the front hub nut?

Are you using a torque wrench or a big bar or are you using a impact gun?? Last time I did mine I just gunned the hub nuts up then used a chisel to knock the tab over on the nut.

I'm going to use torq wrench. There's contradicting information on the internet whether the nut should be torqued wheels on the ground or not. It apparently has an effect on how the bearing will seat in the hub. Does this make a difference?

I have always tightened them with the wheel on the ground, to prevent the hub doesn't turn when tightening it. I've never had any issues due to this either.
