Should definitely have a sump plug washer, I think the new ones have an integral washer. I've had a few different ones from Ford!![/i]

I would use a washer if even if ford did not ?
I also coat the threads and washer area with sealant LOCTITE 5910, and it does not ever leak a single drop then!!

I lacked the car up this afternoon cleaned the sump off ran the engine till it got warm n just watched switched engine off.I can see a small trace of engine oil trickeling down from the sump bung washer n onto the side of the sump. What type me washer do people use.The one thats on now is a white washer n when its tightened up the washer spreads.

they dont normally have washers but wear where sump plug sits obviously everytime you tighten it, so best with one. either white nylon one or copper makes no odds and if the threads are good and its tight it shouldnt leak!!

Use some sealant or a FLANGE BOLT.
I have never NOT had a leak with the correct washers etc, but have never had any leak at all with using sealant, 5910.

Leave it as it is, it will prevent the car from rusting

I was told that oil leaks were designed in by Ford for that very purpose
