Let's talk about stage2 chips (330hp)
Hi all there!
What the chip is better for road use (not for drag, rally or other sport, just road use but with the power when needed to burn out) on Sierra Cosworth (4x4, std turbo, lambda), and why? What the difference between them and what is their distinctives, if somebody had a capability to check them in comparison.
They are:
1. Graham Goode Racing (GGR) chip
2. MotorSport Developments (MSD) chip
3. Bayjoo chip

that is compatable with the webber (marelli) ecu's. thus leaving us guys over here all with un-livemapped ecu's lol. unless someone like stu comes over here with all his gadgets and mapps our cars for us (hint hint, lol).
so failing that what does everyone think the next best step is for those that
cant get their live mapped?
1. just use a off the self chip an run with it ?
2. use a off the shelf chip an use the aid of a dash logger to gather info
of how the car last ran, in hope to write a better programme from the
info gatherd on the dashlogger????
3. fit a aftermarket standalone ecu (would love to, but my pockets aint that
deep lol).
4. ??????? got any ideas ????????
i is asking thses questions cause i myself is stuck with what chip to go for
as the car is nearly finished and choices for me are pretty limited. i just
dont want to end up with a chip thats gonna hold the car back.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Hi..Im running a Collins Power chip..and has done it for almost 11 years (started with a "grey" chip...then at stage 1...then stage 3...then I was told that a A.Bayjoo would be much better so I tried a stage 3 one...but did not think it was better than the Collins one as it did less km/l and did not perform better, so I got a new Collins stage 3 chip )...and it works so well (336 bhp and 434 nm) and I do about 10 to 11 km/l at mixed driving ...so I would recomend a Collins chip/board at any time....
But I must admit that I have been reading about the CL chips from MSD and I am thinking about trying one and a set of the "old grey's" again...buuut have to find a little money first...

I have drioven three with Bayjo chips and was unimpressed, they were ok just not as good as the competition, MSD are ace, and around half the price of the GGR chips, I will be going MSD next stage three.
DOX & SOULEYMAN,
Whislt live mapping is obviously the preffered way as it is done in "real time" situations ie the normal conditions you have whislt driving, it is not always necessary, for lower states of tune it is not going to make a huge if any difference, certainly the std chip st1-3 should be more thna safe to use.
Maybe we should start a DATABASE of MODS, so there is a "CHIP LIBRARY", to help out those less fortunate that don't have the excellent services of the UK with Tuning people ?, thye could then most likely get a very near one that would be plenty good enough, but safe anyway ?

Testing the future
dox get a converted l8 ecu from rp labs - it can then be live mapped by anyone
not as expensive as stand alone ecu's as you don't need a new wiring loom or different sensors

Try the tuners in Hastings ( can't remember their name) but they used to advertise as cossie specialists- maybe they can help or how about a unichip unit - they are quiet cheap as the XR6 boys are removing them and going to flash so useually loads for sale on trade-me
