Oil in the Water

Oil in the Water
Hi
I checked the water level in my header tank the other day and found alot of oil in there, on checking the oil I found no water in it and estimate that its lost about half a liter of oil in to the water. I have taken the head off and the head gasket is a group a one ybo611 or what ever the number is, and this seems fine, I also taken the oil cooler off and Checked that but with no obvious leaks, I'm going to re check it and presurrise it alot more.
I just woundered if anyone has had the same thing happen to them or if anyone could point me in the direction that it could be.
Its a 2wd engine, that was rebuilt about 10k ago and has done around 145-150k miles in total, since I've had it, I've done about 2k and its been running stage 3 with a new turbo for about 1k.
Any help would be great as I'm nearly at the banging my head against the wall stage and am supposed to be going to the ring in it in 2 weeks.
Cheers
Mark.

If the head was over or under torqued when the rebuild was done you would have sealing issues, was the head skimmed? Is the top surface of the block in good condition.
Its very hard to judge how much oil your losing because of the oil cossies burn anyway.

I had topped up the oil the week before and only done about 150miles until I spotted it, when I topped it up, it was at the top of the dip stick and when I found the oil in the water it was below half way. Up til then it hadn't used anywhere near this much and I hadn't found any in the oil.
As far as I know the head had been skimmed and I don't know the history of the rebuild.

It has to be the head gasket to block or head seal letting in water, have a careful look around the waterways on number four in block ansd see if they are white and the rest rusty colour ?
The 2wd seems to suffere from localised boiling here as mine did, and popped the h/gasket, same as your one YBO611(group a).
Also when you undid the headblots/nuts were the ones around number four looser ?, have you got a STUD + NUT kit on it ?

There standard head bolts on it that I took off and the is no water in the oil, only oil in the water.
I'll have a look on the block though.

Turbo was new, from the turbo center and it could have been a reconditioned unit, I honestly don't know if you can get new Garrett turbo parts?
Checked the oil cooler again today and pressurised up to about 60 psi andhad it in freshly boiled water to see if that made any difference and it didn't leak any air, I was SO hoping it would be this as well!!!
I spoke to Alistair at GGR the other day and he said he would be very suprised if it was the turbo.
The heads going of to be perssure checked on monday, when I took the cams out today I notised that the core plgs on the head had leaked a gooie brown oil from one of them so I think the oil must have been pressurising the water but I hadn't noticed it because of the ally header tank.
If the head come back ok I think I may put it back together and see how it goes.
Cheers
