I took the ecu out of the car tonight, and took thse pictures -

now, theres one on ebay without a chip........ would i be able to take the chip out of mine to put in it?

Yes so long as same ECM, looks a bit cooked doesn't it ?
As you say cheaper to replace off ebay etc than a repair, may pay you to check all the wiring for shorts etc to determine what caused first one to fail, as you dont want second one going same way.

My engine loom was responsible for cooking a couple of ECUs, so be careful when you fit the new one, if it starts getting hot then turn it off!

will do although i have hunch that it was something to do with my alarm as it was playing up on saturday, then when i left the kids to come home it brokedown, but i will have a look at the loom and so on
