Is my Sapphire a rare colour?
Ebony Black 4x4.
I was told it was pretty rare on a '91 plate, it's not metallic, just a flat black.
If it is how many were made in this colour? Anyone know?
Cheers

LeviA not been funny mate but has the car had a full Shoot? just asking as my old J plate Saph was Ebony Black, after i sold it the new owner had a full shoot done on it and had it done in Gloss Black. To be honest i'm not keen on gloss black and thinked it looked much better Ebony but everyone to there own i suppose. That just might explane the car being Ebony on paper but actually Gloss Black paint. As for it being rare i think it might be a 2wd in Ebony that will be rare, as i think all the early Black Saphs were Gloss Black. Hope this helps and i'm sure i will be corrected if im wrong

According to the guy at AU the 'flat' Ebony was a special paint order.
I haven't got the car with me at the moment but I'll check the code when I get it back tomorrow (in for a gearbox leak )
Is it the end 4 or 5 numbers which determines the paint code mate?

It will Say something like Zwartz or im sure mine said Ebony or something very simlar on the colour Tag, if you look at your picks what you posted on your other thread im sure it says Zwartz or simlar if you zoom in. why worry anyway mate it is a rarer colour Gloss Black than Ebony, i just think the garage has got there colours mixed up when they told you. if you look at Ebony Black it has a grey look to it as yours will be deep black. I'm not really arsed, I'd just like to know when I get a touch up pen to touch in a couple of stone chips on the bonnet!
It'd be nice if it was a rare colour but as long as she behaves that's the main thing lol

I knew a lad who used to go to the Durham RSOC and he tried to get me along a few times, I once went to the one at Seaham about 10 yrs back lol

The Durham group are a good bunch mate, i can never get to the meets as i always seem to be on the bloody wrong shift! there are a couple of black saphs in the group too, my old one being one of them, i think i will have to get a couple of half holidays put in and get myself back up when my motors back out for summer. Have a pop along one summer night for a pint, its only round the corner from you at Whickham.
