front inner cv joint, quick question
mine seems to have spilt its guts (grease) all over the subframe etc, and is now knocking a little when you turn corners.
spoke to GGR and they reckon i need a new cv joint (£103)
spoke to woodford and they reckon it may not be the joint, and to get a new cv bearing and gaitor kit (£75)
who's advice should i take, its going to a garage, but i may have to order the parts before i take it there

Seems to me that the lack of grease in the boot since it's split has dried the CV out.
I'd go for the joint, might as well get the thing replaced when you're on with it!
They're not that bad to do on a sapphire as long as the circlip isn't too much hassle, then you'll just have to bang the bastard off with a hammer

so theres a joint, a bearing and a cv boot to be done
does that mean £175 for all parts.
best work some overtime and get it booked in at the garage

No, the complete part will contain all the parts of gaitor, bearing, CV and grease to do the job. 103 seems steep like bud, I'd get one from a local shop , you could half that price.

if you buy from ggr a joint has a tri pod bearing and a joint.
no boots
if you buy from woodford they will sell you a tri pod bearing and a boot kit.
imo, the joint never wears out ,just the tripod bearing wears and gets noisey.
so i would go to woodford!
boots are ford only as woodford will supply, fit anything else you may get to fit ,and they fall off in no time and the bearing wears out again.
