My Mega Spec ST170 Cylinder Head
Righto - i'm not particularly concerned if this doesn't sell as i'm sure i can find a use for it - so please don't send me any pisstaking offers.
I bought the cylinder head off a low mileage Focus ST170 and immediately had it X-rayed and crack tested, both of which it passed perfectly...
Next it was stripped and sent to the machine shop to be fitted with +1mm oversize Ferrea Stainless valves, the valve guides were reamed and K-lined and 3 angle valve seats were cut.
The head was then sent off to Steve at Port-formance in Warrington and underwent a phenomenal amount of work over a 10 day period with over 400 flow tests recorded.
Final flow figures at 10" Water and assuming 12mm of Valve Lift are in excess of 300bhp normally aspirated - the head is easily capable of 800bhp with forced induction.
There is a full flow graph recorded before and after porting and whilst the port size is large, there is still excellent low gas speed flow to retain low end drivability.
After this the head was fitted with brand new valve stem seals, Piper uprated valve springs, Piper valve spring retainers and Ferrea single groove titanium race collets.
The valve clearances were then set the expensive way! Clearances were measured and where original lifter buckets could not be used, brand new ones were obtained from Ford at £20 each!
At the moment the VVT oil feed is blocked with a grub screw, however, this can be removed should the VVT be required.
Standard cams are present and included in the price.
A brand new ST170 cam cover was sourced from Ford, complete with gasket and retaining bolts - this will again be included.
Price - £2000
