Default RS 500 Block

Hi guys I don't want to but needs must....
I bought this from Tony at turbo systems 10 yrs ago as was going to use on a big build...! But kids, houses & grown up shit got in the way

So as above its a gen RS 500 block I've cleaned it up today took pics of all sides which hope helps, prob do with next size as there is slight scoring on 1 of barrels but I'm no expert... It's on standard bore. I've spoke to a couple of people & they said this is about the right price but I'm sure you guys will let me know otherwise....

£2000 cheers Lee

Originally fitted to build number 26, a black 500. Looks like a fairly recent pic of that car on Daz B's database so I imagine the current owner would love to refit it for provenance purposes if you can find him. Lots of owners years ago ditched the original blocks at rebuild time for a new 200 block instead.

Hey Tommen, from what I recall your car had a big hp engine in it when you bought it, probably had that entire engine installed and your old one removed.

To men, I see you say you wish you could afford it, I might be able to help.im looking fo a cosworth engine, to put back in a project, that was build to take a cosworth engine, maybe we could come to some agreement on a price, for me to buy your block, so you could maybe afford this original block for your car, no problem if not thanks just a thought

Would be great to see if you guys can get this sorted, there are a lot of cases where a 200 block (or even a large core 205 block) would be better suited to an application and a original YBD block can get back to its original home, fingers crossed for Tommen and #26!

My car has a jondel engine. Running 4 greys..
It is a rs500 block with the chassis number from the car stamped in under the alternator.

I it also has 0080 on The front.. So they have realy tried to confuse people in The future (and The future is now)

The engine is out of the car but there is sadly no way I can manage to do a trade at this point.. Its devostating..

off topic but where did you have to look to find out that it was fitted to that car? just curious as I didn't know it was possible to find out.

Haha! I know..
But shipped to Norway with taxes it is setting me back about £3300🙈

Either way.. I have documents regarding The engine swap, and it is dated back to 1988. So my car does not eaven remeber this heart transplant😂

One year from now.. I had run to UK and bought it🙈
Here is the car before resto.

Tommen you may have a later YBF spec YBD block, does it have a web from the block to the mounting point for the alternator drop bracket? Graham Goode probably just used a new block as they did not have YBD numbers stamped on them, and simply stamped it up to match the original, no harm in that

Sorry OP to comment on your sale thread, hopefully it helps with a sale.

Thanks for info It was not GGR (My mistake) I mailed Alastair (GGR) And my block has the chassi number stamped in GG 33 ####
Do you have picture of a YBF Block? I have the same numbers beside the bracket. 21030 And 205 BM80
I checked it now. It is the old YBD type.. Just like the genuine one

sorry for Off topic again.. its kind of interesting dont you think?

I am welding back new arches because I want it to back to standard look. It needed a refresh in the engine bay as well so I am doing some resto work
I have a thread on the RS500 owners forum, but I got sort of banned from the "gang" after I tried to help a friend that bought a fake rear RS500 spoiler from a well known dealer a few years back.. I have not ever tried to fool anyone so that is a sad story atleast for me.

The genuine owner of my car seams like he was a rich guy.. I have paperwork that says it was modified for 20000 pounds from 1988 to 1990!
Special built engine, alloy cage, ap brakes, ZF diff, and alot of GPA parts.
And a blueprinted Jondel motorsport engine running 4 greys.
I think it has BD10 cams and was supposed to run 1,6bar boost, it has a switch for the amal valve in the car

I was a bit nervous about the block, but it has a genuine item in there so its ok enough if you know what I mean
If the car had a 200 block, I would walk away..

I agree, the value of the car would be enhanced even if the block was sat in the boot as a spare and with the values of these cars being so high it would be a huge opportunity missed.
