Fuel Gauge
Since i bought my puma about a month ago the petrol gauge has not worked. It still on full all the time while the ignition is on and drops to empty when i turn it off so the needle moves and is working. I have changed the sender and is it is still doing it so i am stumped as to what it could be.

Ok i am really confused now!!!!
There has been no change with the gauge. I noticed the other day that i had a fuse missing from the fuse box in the engine bay. After checking it is for the EEC module. I fit one and no change to the car in any way. I did this Thursday night.
So Friday evening after driving the car to and from work i jump in to pick my some up, start it up and while i got myself sorted a heared a loud thud, like something had been dropped on the roof. I jump out look fround the car but cant seee anything so think nothing of it.
As i am driving the gauge slowly starts falling and stops at half a tank and stays there for a little while then very slowly creeps up to three quarters!!
After a 30 mile trip i leave it stood for about an hour before the journy home. Start it up and sit on half a tank again. I put £20 worth of petrol in it but the needle does not move. So now it reads half a tank but does move very slightly over half a tank but then back down.
I am so confused now.

Not had the gauges out as the gauge does move when you do the gauge test and when turning the ignition on and off.
What or where is the reference wire?
