Default Ford Puma has Died - Electrical Problem?

Hi, my partner owns a 1.7 T reg ford Puma.
The other day he went outside to start the Puma. He switched the ignition on, it wouldn't start, won't turn over, and all the lights come on on the dash.
He realised that the interior light was not working, so he changed the fuse, and with that, all the lights on the dash came on, even though the key was not in the ignition.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

If yes, then please let me know how you solved the problem.

Could it be the immobiliser???

Thanks

id probably say an earth has broken somewhere or the battery is awol.

iv had a similar problem in my fiesta when one of the earths on the chassis leg at the front had worked loose.

yeh it really does sound like an earth, the one that came loose in my case was on the drivers side chassis leg up near the front bumper under the d/s headlight, it played hell with the electrics for a while. things comming on randomly and indicators turning on side lights etc
