Default a few puma questions

i'd put these in the puma section but looks dead as fook in there!

just bought a puma (collecting today) and planning on wasting no time tinkering with it. first job is fit a deep dish steering wheel ive still got from my old track car, mainly just to give my legs a bit more room. what im wondering is how to safely get the airbag off the steering wheel and what do i need to do to stop the airbag light coming on? or is that even possible?

also, i know some parts are interchangable with fiestas, im wondering whether exhuast manifolds and suspension are as a 4 branch and coilovers are some of the first mods on the list. i know the rear shocks come in two fitments.

finally, anyone recommend somewhere for a remap?

Suspension is. If its got a digital milometer in the clocks then u use mk5 suspension. If its anologue you use mk4.

Manifolds are interchanable, as are breaks and bushes.

actually get on the floor and check the rear beam for the suspension type. it will be obvious if its fork or eye type. The puma had a lot of crossover with parts during the build so its not always safe to assume it will have one type of suspension.

Airbag just unplug the battery for half hour. Undo the two bolts on back of wheel and airbag will come off no problems.

You will need to remove the airbag ecu and wiring to kill the airbag light properly and to pass the MoT. Its a fine line between something "missing/defective" and "removed". Its already been discussed with VOSA about MoT and competition cars and how they should accept it where the system has been fully removed. Theyve changed the rules to stop people just pulling the bulb on a car with a defective airbag system.
