Mondeo 2.2 TDCi, worried about the DMF, when I pushed the clutch in, it made a slight rattle/grinding noise. Hard to describe

My C5 does not make a similar sound when pushing the clutch in. Is the DMF on the Mondeo on its way out?

Mine was the opposite way round. Rattle with clutch puddle up, stopped when depressed.
2007 Mondy but that was the DMF.

Hope I dont have it the wrong way around! Can anyone else confirm that a funny noise when depressing the clutch is normal?

What's the mileage? On our focus it was the other way too, noise went once dipping the clutch.

Yeah, anytime from 70k onwards. Idle speed pull aways kill them over time. Not like you're short of choice, shop around.

A 'metallic rattle' is probably the release bearing, a 'shaking a bag of spanners' noise is DMF. If driven properly a DMF can last for over 150K miles. If driven badly they can be killed in 20K.

My DMF has made noise like that for the last 10,000 miles, so don't worry too much
