Default Swap 1.8 tdci in Mondeo Mk2

Hi All,

I was just wondering, Does anyone has any experience swapping a 1.8TDCI focus engine into a mondeo mk2 TD?

Imagine starting from a complete 2004/05 donor Focus with all the engine wiring harnesses and the ecu. And maybe to make it easier, leave in the Mondeo the original gearbox to avoid problems with axles and mounts.
At a glance both engines seem to be externally similar except for the intake with upper intercooler in the Mondeo.

I was thinking about that because in my country there are many Mondeos TD broken and repair them is costly. And there are many Focus in junkyards because it was locally manufactured.
And tdci has more power and less fuel consumption.

What do you think? Thanks for your opinions.

The question you should be asking is: will the engine controller of the Focus communicate with the older Mondeo?
And will the older Mondeo computers react to the signals of the newer Focus controller?
Otherwise you get problems with Abs and Instrument panel.
