in the process off buying one as my car has died currently winning a 06one i know they have injector problems and dmf issues how can you tell the dmf is on its way out and anything to look for regarding injectors looking for a 130 ps instead off 115 thanx

i know what your saying so worst scenario 800 quid for injectors and 600 for a dmf

Rattling on idle that changes as the clutch goes up and down is DMF

A lumpy idle could possibly be signs of unhappy injectors, though it could be a whole host of other things too

had a couple with the chain going slack causing the timing to go out enough to cause the valves to hit the cams and break the threads of the cam carrier bolts.

Yeah I just bought a 54 plate one and had to get shot a bit quick. They suffer with dodgy wiring at the back of the passenger side fuse box and caused all manner of probs with mine. The dmf started rattling its tits off and the rest of the car fell apart around it. In my opinion and being a mechanic of a vehicle rental firm where all we have is transits and mondeos I'd steer well clear

ii know if i win the car in question its a 06 plate with 86k on it at 875 bargain if it dosnt fook up

I've had mine and it's at 118k now, no real
Issues apart from changing the DMF at 100k and the crank pulley

Great car with lots if spec if they are looked after

Later ones 06 on don't suffer from injector issues as much

If you want a bulletproof TDI, go for a VAG car with a 1.9TDI PD130 engine. My passat has been owned from new and has covered 320k without fault. Make sure it has a decent service history as wrong oil can cause camshafts to fail etc

320 my 03 130 PD Estate is a wee pup at 167k then , engines are bomb proof I change the oil and filter every 3 k and I know that's over the top but 25 notes for oil and filter who cares ...

Yeah German much better bet. U wouldn't believe the state of the transits and mondeos at work they break down all the time and always the same things, injectors, fuel pumps, dual mass flywheels and clutches, egr valves. I wouldn't touch a tdci with a barge pole now but some people have them for years with no problems. I must always end up with the Friday afternoon cars

tddi version is a better bet, believe they are same engine but old school fuelling and much more reliable, i think the tddi ran till about 03, and from what i've heard they are bullet proof, 40+ MPG and happy to do 120 on a private road, pulls a car trailer as if its not there even when getting close to max tow weight, i've known my one for many years and its never had a problem, although i think it will need a DMF before long as its on 140k

I work for the Royal mail fixing the vans and I will be honest the trannys we have very rarely go wrong. I find it mad that other people have problems with theres.

My mates on doing this Audi A6.

It came in with injector issues a few weeks back. Then the dmf that badly worn it blew up in the gearbox and locked the engine up.

glenn thats your answer drive it like its stolen thus cleaning egr out and out else why do ya think reps bmws etc or tranny vans dont suffer much

No only in the mk4. The mk3 got a 115ps version of the 2.0 fitted with the mtx75 box

We have changed a few egrs but what modern diesel car hasnt had them changed these days. The vans get used everyday so I wonder why this is the reason they dont go wrong. We had a ttdi tranny with over 250 k on it and it was sweet as a nut. The bodywork was fooked though lol.

Funnily enough a lad from my work got his mate to come to our work to look at cause its been poor to start when warm and we put the ford tester on it and we think no 1 and 4 injectors are a bit poor compared to the other 2.

That was a 115ps version.
