Default Any Ford technicians ref Ford Kuga

My friends have a 09 reg titanium 4x4 Diesel Ford Kuga.He came round tonight and said there is a knocking nosie coming from the rear.I drove the car tonight and got it to do it a few times. It did it when i was slowing down.To me it sounds like it coming from the rear diff. When slowing down it feels like someone has bumped into the back of the car.

Like i said it only does it every now and then.Ive looked on the Ford Kuga owners club site and some of them think it could be the back seat.It doesnt feel like it is too me.

Is there any technical bulletins out for this noise on the Kuga.

There is no technical bulletins for this kind of sound. Are you sure it`s from outside of car?

if they have rear radius arm like this, check the bush at the front, had a 59 plate S-max in yesterday with the same thing, Ford couldnt find owt but the bush was hangin out, literally.

These are common on Focus too, so will be on Kuga

Sean.

Too true Sean - this bush is not a good design. Its on other manufacturers too - a trend in bush design. Gives us something to change tho lol.

Im defo sure its coming from the rear.Surely if it was a suspension bush the nouse would be there more oftern. It sounds to me like its from the rear diff/transmission.

Replaced the rear tyres cause the tread was getting low and they were noisey. Its still doing the same thing and there is a light coming on the dash every now and then too.

Haldex rear end on Kuga as per VAG TT/R32/4motion, could be controller issue.

if its a haldex design like the vags quite often an oil and filter change will cure the noise (on vag) never done one on a kuga

Friends just had an issue with a knocking sound on his Kuga coming from the back. Thought it was outside and it seems to be the rear seat hinge or something. Not sure it would be a dash light on mind!

Na the fault is to do with the all wheel drive system. The light is still on the dash.
