Focus 1.8 blacktop engine removal
Hi there.
My mother in laws 52 plate 1.8 focus estate dropped a valve the other week and since she likes the car and doesn't have a huge amount if money to replace it I have bought a brand new engine to out in it.
I did the clutch last year and it was a pig of a job as it had never been in bits before.
I am wondering if you can remove the engine from the top without dropping the box, subframe etc as from the top should be a lot easier, but I have never removed a focus engine so any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,lee

Easier to take the front off mate and slide it straight out. Crash bar and slam panel off etc and out it comes.

Yes mate I did on mine. Bit of rag against o/s inner wing and out it came. Bit off wiggling but it's doable.

Got it done.
Inc changing the discs and pads,a power steering pipe, the timing belt once the engine was in in total took about 24 hours.
The bumper bolts were the hardest part to come off,I removed the whole front end of the car and took out the whole thing, far easier than removing the subframe, rack etc as that gave me access to the pas and air con pump, exhaust etc.
Was almost enjoyable working on it but don't fancy doing it again.
It goes like a new car now!
Thanks got the tips.
