Cam Followers and Shims
After making a stupid mistake while changing the cam belt of my 2003 Focus 1.6 Zetec (blacktop) I'm replacing the eight bent inlet valves. I am taking the opportunity to service and decoke the head. However I want to check the valve clearances but cant find or see any way to adjust them. Its got solid cam followers, and it doesn't look like the shim that sits on top of the valve is separate. If you need to adjust the valve clearances, do you have to buy new cam followers of a different size.
Also, did the later, phase 2 Zetec engine use a different timing pin for the crankshaft than the earlier one (I have used the bar and pin from a kit and still managed to bend the valves!)
Many thanks everyone

The shims should pop out of the buckets, and under the shim shoukd have the size they are, i used a sharpe pick to pry them out on mine and some was quite stuburn, not sure on the valve clearences though matey
