Ford Focus Mk1 Time Clock wiring
#2
I thought it was self-contained so just power (constant and ignition) and earth and possibly a lighting feed? A multimeter would tell you very quickly.

it's always on and there is five wires, so at a guess I would have thought there would be:
ground
LED positive (for the immobilizer/alarm led)
constant
Ignition (seems to turn backlight on after engine started)
illumination
however not sure of pinout. Might have to take dash out and look.

having had a look at it, it would appear as though my theory may be correct.
Electrics off, time is displayed, power up car in key pos2, and the clock lights up. If I switch on sidelights, then the clock flickers briefly and the illumination dial will dim/bright the display.
so that makes sense as not every focus had the dim dial as I call it.
just need a pinout, I guess a multimeter will fix that.
Time to mod!

Im modding the dash surround around the radio.
Making it 1din
removing the focus clock, and making a new hole for the MK5 Fiesta one.
why? the higher spec fiesta clock has two ice lights and a button that toggles from a clock to an outside temp display. If it's frosty the yellow ice light comes on, if theres black ice the red one comes on.
the sensor wires straight into the clock itself and can be nabbed from a fiesta/puma/or a mondeo.
not only will it be useful but also be different as I have not seen it done before.... well not on a focus!

I plan to use the fuel computer space for a gauge. But this is the next best thing if you dont have the loom and dont want to rip dash out to fit it.

technically being pedantic lol, it would be frosty at 4 degrees and icy at 0... but I'm not pedantic :P
I just like it for a bit of eye candy and to be different.
