Programming new key for Focus Ghia 2000
Hi All,
I have a 2000 Focus Ghia with one key. Its a 3 button remote key. As it is my only key i would like a spare, also i think they key is dying as its very slow to respond and that's after replacing the battery...
I have had a number of quotes from Ford, Timpson etc for around £115 for a new remote key.
I have seen on various forums that people have programmed there own keys by buying a new key then switching it from position 2 to 1, 4 times and then pressing a button.
I may be wrong but i feel as though there must be more to it than that otherwise people could just buy keys to other cars and then go and steal them. Could anyone shed some light on the process, i'm assuming i need my existing car key.
Also i would like to know if i do that will that program the key to immobilize the car and work as a remote key or just an immobilizer.
Please feel free to ask any questions if i haven't been clear.
