different gearbox
Hi guys,,
I am new to this site apart from reading the articles which i fined very informative so it goes without question i am on the correct site for this bit of a battle.
I am replacing my 1.8 focus engine with that of a 2ltr,this shouldn't be to much trouble but the crooks of the mater is that i would like also to replace the standard gearbox with that from a six speed st170. I realize that i will have to change over the gear linkage but i am not sure about other items such as the clutch,flywheel or even if the gearbox itself has the same mating face as the standard 2ltr.
Has anybody attempted this bold project or any ideas

I'm Finding My Feet Here Now
You will need pretty much everything for the gearbox if your doing ib5 to st170 box I.e
St170 clutch and flywheel (unsure if normal 2.0 ones will work)
St170 gear lever and cables,
St170 torque link (rear mount/engine steady)
St170 main gearbox mount both parts
Probably and st170 starter althought a normal 2.0 starter may fit?
St170 slave cylinder/release bearing
You may also have to do something with the clutch pipe depending how it lines up
St170 gearbox bolt holes will line up with 2.0 zetec holes

time for a change
mark 826.thanks for the info first of all. the project will more than likely take place after xmas but in the mean time ill spend some effort in checking that the gearbox to engine mating face will actually fit ensuring all the bolt holes and locating dowels (if there is any )are the same on the st 170 to the standard 2ltr. if this is the case then ill continue picking up the parts that you mentioned and any others that i can think of.
once its completed then ill give feedback in the forum.
