What's the best way to remove rear springs from focus?

Just grind them?

Lower shock bolt off, then you really need spring clamps to compress the spring, they are quite long springs and not great to get out..

If the other bottom arm bolts came out easier you could take them out to drop the bottom arm down further, but generally they're seized in.

These are seperate spring/shock on rear of Focus, not mcpherson struts.

The problem with the Focus rears is that you cannot get normal DIY standard spring compressors on the spring as the subframe and lower arm gets in the way.

If you can beg steal or borrow a 'duck bill' compressor it is easy. Problem is with them they cost a fortune.

On mine, I used brute force to get the old springs out, couple of big long levers.

The new ones though I needed to take some car as I didn't want to scratch them. I know you are all going to piss yourselves and it was as dangerous as fuck but I did this...

Compressed it with my DIY threaded compressors, put the spring in (still a bit of brute force needed) and then cut the ties!

If you are just bodging the old spring in and out and dont give a monkies about damage then brute force alone can win!

These look good. What's the price on these?

The spring compressors i have are to bulky and won't fit the rear :/

Also, which bolts on the rear are seized?

Easiest way I have found to do them is put the spring clamps inside the spring, up through the hole in the bottom arm. Need to be careful though as the hooks on the clamps will now be pointing the wrong way so might ping off the spring.

Managed to do it all myself! The rears wasn't a massive headache, managed to do both rears in hour and half.

I just used the old shock to wedge it out a little then clamped it spring compressors on the in and outside of the spring. then got a friend to stand on the rear disk then pulled it out.

New springs went in really easy and torquing everything back up was a doddle. Only one seized bolt but managed to get the bugger out.

Hey looks like my own a bit. I've only gone 30mm on eibachs and blistein b4 springs. They really firm up the ride but the handling is awesome. I was out too far at a junction so had to get a new bumper but all back together now it wasn't that bad tbh.
