Angry Focus aircon/heater problem

Help! Have recently changed the heater fan in focus 1.6 Zetec - 02 reg as it had stopped working. Wouldn't work on anything other than setting 4 on the switch. The old fan was very stiff. Bought 2nd hand and a new resistor. Now the fan still won't work on setting 1 on the switch only 2 to 4. However, the aircon light comes on at switch setting 1 but none of the others. Not helpful when the fan doesn't work on #1.

Any advice welcom

Cheers

Stew

A faulty resistor pack will stop it working anything other than position 4!

I suspect you have a faulty switch causing your problem now!

Okay, this fault has been ongoing now for about two years. I have changed the resistor, switches and the blower motor. I have no blower on switch setting 1, but the other three are ok. I have no air con, but the indicator light comes on, when the blower switch is on 1 (no air tho'). the indicator light goes out as soon as the switch is set to 2. Please help!!!

I had the same problem in that the fan would not work on setting 1. I replaced the blower resistor pack and it fixed it. I can't work out why, but it fixed it. I also found that by dropping one of the pieces of trim I could use a long screwdriver

My aircon comes on as soon as I move the dials for the blowers but I am getting 3 and 4

Any suggestions on the best course of action?

Also finding that the car is warming up okay but occasionally the gauge drops when the heaters are on full
