That's good! It definitely sounded fuel related. Glad you didn't change the pump first just to find it wasn't it!

The code is P0133 O2 sensor slow response bank one sensor one.

Im thinking if the engine isnt getting enough fuel is the lambda sensor picking up that the engine is running lean??

My fuel pump came today so i will have to run the fuel down so i can change the pump.

Slow response generally means the lambda sensor is fooked. Check the wiring to the pre cat sensor and make sure the pins inside the wiring plug aren't corroded. I had to put one on my old st170 for the same fault, quite common on these too apparently.

The light didnt come on yesterday going home and it didnt come on this morning coming to work.

I made a bracket for the sensor a few months back cause the sensor was just lying on the bell housing.

I got time to look at the ST today.

I know its a bit gash cutting the floor but imo its easier than dropping the tank cause ive done one of these before.

The filters in the sending unit and on the bottom of the pump were bogging.

I used a few cans of brake cleaner to clean the filters.

I replaced the fuel pump and rebuilt the car.

When i put the fuel pipe back in i fooked the seals. Luckily i had some rubber o rings in my garage.

I took the car up the road and kicked its fooking head in. I think its cured now cause it pulls right through the rev range in all the gears.

When i get back to work im gonna make a plate to go ovwr the hole.

Glenn, did you sort this out? As mines started doing the same thing now.....about 3.5k.....but not all the time. It's had a new fuel filter. It was stood a while before I brought it, that's why I got a full service. Put full petrol system cleaner in today, so going to take it for a long run tomorrow.

Think I've sorted it, cable for imrc had come off......reconnected it and took for a drive was spot on.....also got my brother to plug it in to the snap on diagnosis machine, there were 2 old codes P1518 & P1519. Cleared them, went for a run and tested again. No codes found. But never had a eml on when it started misbehaving.

Sorry for late reply. Yeh it did sort it but funnily enough its started to do it again.

My mate bought a cheap clio sport for spares and i took the fuel out of it and put it in the st. I think the bowser myst have put some shit in the st.

I will take the sender out again and have a look for some shit in the sender.

Ive noticed a few times when i have below 1/4 of a tank sometimes there is no power. Uts a bit like fuel surge.

No probs, funny you should say that as mine started doing it when below 1/4 of a tank.....so might be a fuel pressure problem, from blockages or dodgy pump. I'm going to run mine down. Then refill the tank with another fuel system cleaner, see what happens.

Think the imrc cable coming off was just a coincidence. It's deffo a fuel problem.....nothing on the diagnosis, so could be a blocked pipe or injector. Hopefully the system cleaner will work.

Also noticed I've got no jubilee clip on my intake hose to throttle body, so need to put one on.

Only thing is I'm on call for a week now, so can't drive it lol

Cool, I'll see how mine goes once the system is cleaned out.....it's had the fuel filter changed. Think it must be picking crap off the bottom of the tank when low.

Spoke to my brother today, and he said the fuel was quite clean when they changed the filter......Can't drive it till the weekend, so will let you know how it goes. Must put that jubilee clip on the throttle body first.
