brakes are fine
tyre pressures are fine

pottering around these cars are closer 18mpg and are well known for not being fuel efficient but on longer runs etc you can average out closer to 40mpg, and as soon as you boot it and the flaps open these eat fuel like a range rover

Default st170 bad mpg

Sounds about right, I used to get 21mpg out of mine with normal mixed driving. They are utterly shockingly shite on fuel and has to be the worst performing car to mpg I have ever known. I then bought a mk2 st, even with it tuned to a little over 300bhp it was still more economical than the st170 was.

You could always check the air flow meter and lambda sensors are reading correctly, they are known weak points and can lead to poor mpg if not right.

as richie also mentioned they are well known for this, my own 170 drives great and handles like new but dont talk to me about fuel as its crap, joys of owning a 170

Second gear is very addictive

I tend to get around 16-22mpg out of mine.

Pretty much the norm. My Mrs could only get 21/22 mixed driving.
The odd long run helps improve it, just pottering around chokes them up. I've had about 11mpg from it. My st24 was more economical and my L200 sees 32+ so they're piss poor, one of the main factors for us getting rid. We could afford to run it like that but didn't see the point when the Mrs sat in traffic most of her journey. Can run her fart box fiat nearly a month on a weeks fuel in the st170. While it's not quick the chassis is great on the little fiats.
