Default Mk1 Focus Audio Question

Hi Peeps
Just wondering weather my focus has any kinda of filter/crossovers in the original speaker wiring. I changed all the speakers over to exact same (keeping the original wiring) and noticed recently that the front speakers have more treble than the back as say they sound more dull and bassy. Its a 1.8 LX Yreg if that makes a difference. And if so where bouts are they hidden.
Cheers Andy

Never noticed this before. You got factory head unit? I upgraded my front speakers and they sounded worse than stock. If your running subs or 6x9's in the boot disconnect the standard rear speakers as the position of these will interfer with the sound quality

Disconnect the rears and see if its these sapping the bass from the front. If your head unit is aftermarket you can set up the sound stage through that if its stock.i shoul.imagine the head unit is to blame

Nah its a Alpine CDE9** (some thing like that) HU with all speakers exact same Phillips 5"1/2 i think. Have got a active Fli sub atm but i had a play about earlier and turned it off and still sounded dull on rear speakers.

Macca,

in short, no there are no inbuilt crossovers in the focus

I'm running a Sony head unit and JBL 5x7 speakers and all is good. Excellent sound quality.

I would think that it'll be something to do with the balance/fade treble/bass setting via your head unit

give it a try fiddling with your settings via your head unit - on some you can adjust rear & front independantly

No,
I have JBL GTO 8628 5x7 speakers all round in front doors and rear 1/4 - I have a 3 door Focus.

Head unit is rated as 52W x 4 and the JBL's are rated as 60W RMS & 180W peak power.

The sound quality really is great, on a 'bang for your buck' basis you wont get better than JBL's - thats just my opinion.
