Default MK3 Focus RS going to hold its value?

I know it's impossible for you to go all Mystic Meg and know for sure but what is everyone's gut feeling? I'm not looking at it as an investment so much but that timing isn't really right for me but I really want one. The MK2 was what £25k and still commands £20k (for a good one) 5-6 years later which is crazy for a used car. Do you think this will happen with the slightly controversial MK3 or do you think I'll be able to get a used one at a reasonable price in a few years?

Only time will tell. Nobody ever knows, I would have guessed the last one would have halved in value by now so what do I know?

You need low volume numbers and hero car status for the best residuals OR high volume and every man status (like the 205 gti) that pass in to junk and then high value as they become scarce and old....look at the Raleigh Chopper. Everyone had them and now everyone wants one after they were all thrown away.

Ha ha, I'd happily pix my chopper for the mk3. I'm with you in that I can't believe how the last one has held its value. Can't think of another mass built hatch that has done that quite the same.

Ha ha, sounds like a plan - might have enough for a wheel or two!

Why would it as it will mass produced compared to other rs models so that will drive the price down

Limited run of 12500 the dealers are saying just like the other ones. You've got until oct 7th to get your deposit down if you want one for March 2016 else you have to wait until the following September.

The mk2 in Edinburgh main dealers has 9k on clock and is a totally standard one owner car. They want £25k for it which is what they said they sold it for when new...!

Though they say it is not limited, they can only produce a limited number till the end of the mk3 focus (2017?). And most of them will be going outside Europe.
Heard of a global number of 45000 units up to one third will be for Europe. UK may get a larger amount of mk3 RS than you got mk2 RS.

So my guess is that in Europe it will be close to the rarity of the mk2 RS.

I do like it.

Someone need an LHD EsCos.

I was only going by what the dealer told me (and I guess he wanted to get me sign on the line). Said there was only a couple of chances to get one. To be fair, if they drop like the STs do I'll be made up as I've decided (for now) to not go for one but if I can get a 3 yo one for half the price then happy days..

Default focus

to me they all lost their real charm after the 80s
xr/rs cossies etc
only modern day ford i have thought was the business is the gt40

the rs focus mk2 were strange-dipped a bit at first then went back up
who knows...i would say they would go down, maybe not as quickly as a run of the mill car though

Angry ford focus rs price increase

on the subject of the new rs at least ford are consistent not only do they reveal the car in a colour not available but ive been in to put my deposit down and they've upped the price from £28,940 to £29,995 an increase of £1055 and its a case of take it or leave it no discounts no friends or family deal for ford employees nothing I configured the car how I wanted it which ended up at £33,190 now its jumped to £34,245 cheers ford with the depreciation on that I think I will wait for now

Be silly to miss out over a grand if it's something you really want. Cut out a few options if you really have to. I was humming and harring over one and decided I'd regret it if i didn't.

They will hold value over other new cars as performance models.

They wont drop like the st but then the st doesn't have the exclusivity the rs models have nor is it a perfomance car more a fast family car.

I think the rs is a step in the right direction for years I thought they should listen to the fans and build some proper cars focus rs 4x4 and next they need a rwd mondeo RS the fiesta should be the only fwd rs model

Well a month or so on and my option has certainly changed as I've put a deposit down on one and plan to keep it forever as I feel this is the last chance I'm going to see something interesting with a manual box, proper handbrake and not electric or full autonomous..
