with 250-300bhp i dont think the escort or mondeo transfer box will last too long as they arent too strong, probably best looking at evo running gear but then thats also expensive

I have a RS2000 4x4 project car that I have been getting bits over the years now i am thinking of breaking it one of the things I have done is to have a EVO 6 gearbox adapted (not a adapter plate) to fit my RS2300 turbo engine(Ford standard bolt pattern) the gearbox & transfer box & prop(8000miles on it) cost me £1500 having it adapted & a one off flywheel made £775 the rear diff I got is a EVO-RS lsd (normal ones are have hyd pumps to control them run by the ecu) these are rare so with a pair of shafts with joints £1200 I had a pair of new front shafts that cost me £344 I have not got round to have the rear shafts made. Shame is I just don't get time to finish it & have been thinking of breaking it shame as I have spent thousands on the car eg primary design manifold etc etc
So quit costly but reliable & proven & parts are available so can be done
