Default Front Coil Springs Mk1 Focus TDCI Question?

One of the front coil springs is snapped on my 53 reg Focus TDCI Ghia estate, I have been advised to replace both the front ones which I am going to do myself. My only concern is that I was told on another forum that the Focus has quite a lot of different variants of springs for the Mk1 according to Ford. After getting in-touch with local motor factors they are only listing one type for all models of the TDCI. I just wondered if there was actually differences for the estate and possibly the Ghia maybe having softer suspension. The springs from Ford are £87 each and I do not really want to pay it, from a motor factors they are £60 for both. Just wondered if anybody else knows anything regarding this?

I've only heard of 3 different sets, two for the petrol and one for the diesel. I would recommend genuine ford though, bloke on another forum i go on used a pattern spring and it snapped again in less than a year.

Ok cheers mate, the price puts me off Ford parts. Shame I do not know the company that manufactures the springs for Ford and just get that brand. For example looking on another forum I believe that LUK make the DMF's for Ford and buying that brand from a motor factor is a fraction of Ford's stupid price for that part for my car anyway.

Sounds about right! You can get a full eibach suspension kit for around £130-£150 which are uprated to give better handling etc, they are Ford approved so you can buy them through a ford dealer should you want to, although you can get them cheaper elsewhere.

I bought a pair of febi bilstein springs from my local spares shop for £50, and yes its best to replace them in pairs. Hope you get it sorted.

There are quite a few springs I know of, the Zetec for example has sports suspension but I don't know if it's just stiffer shocks, either way it's different!. I know the 2.0 has different suspension to the 1.6 (Petrol) for example as it's much lighter and therefore suspension is different. I think the Diesels would all be the same as there is only one engine IIRC available in the MK1 Focus that being the 1.8 unit?
