Default Focus RS mk2 decat question

Hello

I'm sure these questions have been asked before but I might be getting a mk2 focus rs fairly soon.

The car im looking at has a full miltek? Turbo back decat exhaust.

The engine warning light is on and the owner said it came on 70 miles after fitting the exhaust due to the decat?

Does this effect running? How do you turn the light off without fitting the standard exhaust back on?

I used to have a mk1 focus rs and had the same problem and the boost used to limit while the light came on, you could disconnect the battery for 10 mins put it back on and you would be back to full boost for another 100 miles, is this all the same with the mk2?

Can you disconnect the battery on a mk2 to turn the light off like the mk1?

What should a standard car boost to on the boost gauge?

Thanks

James

The light is for the lambda sensor after/in the cat.

The fault code is to tell you CO2 below threshold or something like that, to say the cat is not working correctly (not sure what the actual code number is)

The car will run fine with it on, don't worry about that. As for turning it off not a clue mate. I use the DSci Platform so when mine comes on (Focus ST) I just clear the fault code with my laptop and it doesnt come on again for a while. Bit of a ball ache having to do it via laptop/odb quite often but thats what I get for fitting a decat.

For the ST which is what I use, http://www.dreamscience-automotive.c...g-platform.php

Says the system for the RS is coming soon http://www.dreamscience-automotive.c...mk2-tuning.php

As fir the battery I have no idea sorry mate. Never had to disconnect the battery to do it. Will pulling the KAM fuse out for a few mins work?

Along the same lines i have a Milltec turbo back on MY mk 2 rs but with a sports cat fitted. The engine warning kight has come on so i took it to have the analyser plugged in and was told the cat was goosed i am finding this hard to believe as it has only done a couple thousand miles so i was wondering if it could be the Lambda sensor?

Take it for an emissions test. If it passes then happy days. All you need then is the adapter which I linked in a previous post.

Easier and cheaper than buying another cat.

If it comes on there is a fuse you can pull out and put straight back in and it will clear it. KAM fuse(keep alive memory). Think its number 26 in the engine bay. That's what I used to do in my focus st to

I bought a Lambda Sensor Elbow from Autospecialist and my light has stayed off (touch wood)
Hope this helps

Get it re-mapped, it will optimise the performance for any mods on the car and the light will stay off.

Agreed !

The code will more than likely be P0420 cat efficiency or summit like that , basically the ford ECU isn't seeing the numbers it should be from the standard cat (which is huge) - had the same on my ST with a 100 cell cat I just lived with it .

Wouldn't keep pulling KAM fuse to trick the car into thinking it's ok , get a sensor spacer as above and try that , failing that a good remap on the car will put the light out as staffy owner said it will be optimised for any performance mods . Pretty sure the usual suspects could do this for you , Jamsport , REVO , Collins , etc etc

Keep clear of jam*port, SCC would be my choice and you get 5% off by mentioning passionford
