Default heated seat elements

any1 know where i can get this from.

my st170 front drivers seat element has definatly gone as its not the switch, the wiring or fuse so i know it needs a new element.

ford quoted like £70 for base and £80 for back. i dont mind paying that but is well steep i think.

wondering wether any1 is breaking one???????

You can get aftermarket elements on ebay, I can't vouch for the quality but they are alot cheaper, around £55 for base and back IIRC.

I wouldn't trust a second hand one personally, it's a common fault.

I've fitted a Waeco kit to my car.

£59 for four heater pads.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WAECO-HEATED-S...item5641d82d1e

These have two stage heating as well.

You could install just the pads and add the two stage switching if you wanted to. If you want to keep OE then wire in with both stages i.e. hottest. They are thermostatically controlled so it won't be an issue.

Yes you could.

I've fitted these to my old Audi A6 front and rear and to my current Focus.

To wire up, simply find a switched live that'll take a 10 amp draw.

i persume really the only major difference from a ford jobbie is the connector blocks plug straight in probably.

Yeh but they are prone to go so you may buy one and it's already on it's way out

Also very rare to find this on eBay, no one really sells the front seats of a st170 full leather

^^^^Ahhh, are you one of the lucky ones with the full leather recaro option as opposed to the 1/2 leather black/blue seats.

I've seen a few adverts on ebay for the full leather recaro interior out of 3 door ST170's front heated seats, rear bench seats & door cards for £350, which i though was a bargain!
They dont come up often mind!
