IIRC you need the oil pressure pod aswell as the dials then run the power from the oil pressure pod to the wires on the top of the dials

Yeah one of the lads in work done it on his TDCI Sport. This was the only way the dials would light up, by doing this. Everythng else worked as normal from the multi plug behind the dials.

Apparently .............

The oil gauge pod contains the inverter to power the electroluminescent dials of the ST170 (the whole face lights up, not just the numbers) so you would need this or a separate inverter.

Yes you need the oil pod as this contains the inverter for the backlit guages. You won't be able to get the oil guages to work though as they are pulse driven direct from the ECU, its not just a case of bolting in a new sender unit!

Thats cool because i dont want to use the oil gauges , ill connect the inverter directly to the ST170 back light dials and power them that way , missing out the Oil gauges all together.

You can run a seperate inverter to power the ST170 dials.

A Focus ESP I took possession of earlier this year did exactly that as he had a trip computer where the ST170 oil pod would have gone.

I have the oil clocks but no idea how to wire them up to power the inverter for dash lights? Anyone give me some clues on wiring it up just to power up the inverter please
