2.0 Block/bottom end
Hi,
Looking at gettin a 2.0 bottom end from a mk1 focus for my mk1 1.8 focus as the heads are the same.
Firstly is it worth it? Iv bin told by kent that my cams power will kick in lower down if fitted in the larger capacity engine. Iv also got full exhaust/induction mods.
Also if i buy a 2nd hand engine, is there anything i wud need to look out for around the condition of the block? is it expensive to recondition or is it not worth it? or wud better option to buy a new one (seen one on ebay at £350, but including fitting its prob not gona be worth the gains).
Would i get the additional 15bhp the 2.0 come with?
Sorry for all the quests
Thanks
Matt

Surely its much simpler to just drop a complete 2.0l engine in instead of buggering around swapping heads, the amount of work involved in swapping a head you might as well remove the whole engine.
The biggest gain between larger and smaller displacment is tourqe, the extra 200cc is well worth the effort

So it will be worth doing this then? Also goin use my 1.8 gearbox as well.
Anythin i need to look out for with the engine in signs of wear/abuse etc. My car has only 50k on the clock and my rents had it before me so i know the engine is in top condition etc

The heads aren't the same - the combustion chamber volume is smaller in the 1.8, which gives you a higher compression ratio when mated to a 2.0 block. At least this is what I was told by Chris Todd caused issues with 'Trev's supercharged 5-door @ TOTD.
Cheers,
Chris
