Best Plugs and Leads - 1.8 Zetec
Hi,
I lookin at changing my spark plugs as they are due a change and also change me leads as they havent bin replaced so may need changing??
Iv got a 1.8 MK1 focus with full exhaust/induction/cams etc if this makes any difference.
Are the OE parts worth using or are something like the NGK Platinum plugs and the bosch leads iv seen on ebay worth using. I emailed Burton power who suggested the NGK plugs and the 8mm magnecor leads?
Does it make much difference with which ones used? Im aware these dont increase power, but do they give better spark etc as the info about them says?
Any help appreciated
Thanks
Matt

for years on all zetec e fords (mostly 1.8 and 2l focus) i've used ngk platinum plugs, never found anything better!!! same as all plugs though make sure they're gapped to 1mm
leads wise i now use magnecore kv85 9red ones. blues will be fine too. runs smoother with them to old oe ford leads. mine btw is a 2l focus zetec with full zorst including 4-2-1, K&N pannel and uprated cold air feed and it makes 150 bhp with 104k on the clock 8)
edit: thats 104,000 miles btw

mines not even got cams and only standard map but she definately runs smoother with the kv85's but the ford leads were prob the originals and past it, pluss ford ones are very dear so may aswell get the magnecore leads

exactly - ride gets smoother if you had old cables... I changed from quite new NGK leads and didn't really feel any change, apart from better looks of course
