Try removing the rear bulb holders and see if it does it. Not that uncommon for damp to get into the connectors and cause a short circuit.

Hi,
I have had the same prob. for over 2 weeks now and lost loads of sleep over it I have finaly sorted it after changing switch, relays, disconecting bulb holders ect ect ect THE PROBLEM WAS SOME BEAR WIRES IN THE FLEXY GROMETT AT THE TOP OF THE TAIL GATE ON MY ESTATE A LITTLE BIT OF INSULATING TAPE FIXED IT
