Yes so long as you sort the physical mounting and use the same senders as the car used you are getting the gauges from, get ideally from the same car.

No, they won't work, as the gauges take their readings from the ecu.

All you need to do is match the resistance if you really want them, it's entirely possible, but much aggro, depends how much you want them.

Actually not tabetha. The Focus was the first (with others following quickly after) that use the data highway signal (digital) for all the engine dials. EOBD/SCP in the case of the Mk1/1.5 Focus. There is a legacy pulse signal for speed (radio & cruise control), but even that is conditioned through the PCM.

That's why anyone doing a standalone ECU (MS, Omex, etc) HAS to retain the PCM to drive the standard instrument cluster.

Walters00007 did you mean the ST170 pod (Mk1.5) or the ST225 pod (Mk2).

Yes it can be done have done to my own 2.0 zetec you will need the dash surround from a ST170 as the gauge sits where the coin tray is.

You need to splice into your wiring loom at fuse 36, 41 and 61 then splice into the oil press light wire Orange/ Black wire and splice into the Generic Electronic module connector 104 pin 18 Orange/Black wire and splice into pin 2 and pin 10 on the DLC 9 Data Link Connectorand splice into pin 9 at the light switch connector.

The oil pressure gauge will work but the oil temp will not till you fit a oil press/ temp sender for a ST170 and you will have the ice warning light on until you fit the ice warning sensor ford want £68 inc vat for the ice sensor but if you go to rs/st spares on ebay they will supply a new sensor for £8 inc P&P.

You will also need the plugs for the gauges and sensor from a ST170 wiring loom as ford do not sell the connectors and pins can only get them if you order a wiring loom.

Interesting, but are the dials really moving correctly with the engine conditions (hot/cold, running/stationary). Do you get oil pressure/temperature on a diagnostic reader ie. ScanGaugeII.

Certainly the needles move but no one who's done this in the past 7 years has reported it working properly without a Blackoak PCM.
