Focus ST170 owner required - running gear question??
Im after some help with regard to the drive shafts.
Im fitting this box into my track fiesta, and have the drive shafts(which will need to be shortend) i have noticed, as there equal in length, the longer section has a bearing which i presume joins to the sump or the block.
can you confirm if this is the case.
does the bearing have a casing that bolts to the block or sump?
or does is it a casting in the sump that this bearing runs in.
Even better if you could slide under and take a shot.
thank you kindly cheers

I would recommend the st170 box mate, by all accounts it is the stronger of the two...
Yes, the rs box comes with a quaife but the cost of the st170 unit is far far cheaper and with a quaife fitted it works out at around the same price ,maybe a touch more.
the ratios are sweet too, and due to the gear layout will take some big bhp.
Dual mass flywheel set up is the issue but i have sourced 6 paddle clutch and new billet flywheel for a respectible price..
just need to sort shafts out now..

Pick up a st170 for around Ł250 thats what i paid and that was just a buy it now on ebay.
diff is Ł550 from quaife if my memeroy is correct.
bonus is the dual layshaft set up so should handle the torque well.
just see which of the two has the best ratios for what you want.
