To modify or not?!
Hi all
Have my Focus RS for a couple of months now and am thinking about doing some bits to it i.e gen2 induction kit, decat and dreamscience.
How much will it affect my mpg? Any other side effects?

To be fair you don't buy a car like a Focus RS and worry about the economy of it!!!
It's a car you can live with everyday but if you are considering modifying it then are you more bothered about how many miles per gallon or SMILES per gallon!!!

if u want to improve it without going over the top, just the obvious mods are what you shud stick to
de-cat
bluefin
filter
then after that:
actuator
manifold
then maybe turbo if u wanna get serious!

i ve got a dreamscience on mine and a decat, i had the same concerns as you but to be honest if any thing its better on fuel and the car feels like it drives the way it should! running mine on the second dream map and loving evey minute. couldn't live with a standard one

I currently return 29-32mpg from my williams but want to know what an rs with a couple of mods will do.
I am happy to go to 25 on a combined run or else i will look elsewhere so any informative posts about yields would be good.
I have been told a standard rs on a combined run will be circa 30.
Cheers.

Basic mods would be induction kit (Gen II) remap (Bluefin or Dreamscience) and maybe an exhaust (Mongoose, Blueflame, etc) - can always go for a decat too.
tbh those mods shouldnt affect mpg that much - really depends more on how you drive the car depending on what mpg you will get (same as most cars)
Bear in mind though if you dont plan to mod much just stick with the basics otherwise it can be costly - i bought mine nearly 2 years ago with an exhaust, filter, etc and said "i'll keep it like that" and have spent far more £££ than i expected and have one of the more powerful and uniquely modded FRS in the UK
Really all depends how far you want to go Ross
