Default Threads on Focus RS vs Focus ST?

Does anyone know of any threads discussing the merits and drawbacks of these two cars by comparison?

I had a brief search and couldn't fins any.

If you wouldn't mind pointing me in the right direction that would be great, thanks!

Lux Escort Cosworth. The blue detailing makes it look Each to their own. I Like the rest of the car.

Having had an ST and now driven an RS I'd personally go for the RS.

Both superb, but the RS has a wee bit more.. something. Not sure what, just 'something'

having had an escos and a saph 4x4x cos, and having all the problems with availability of parts - and as the RS focus is out of production, i didn't want the hastle, besides the ST is cheaper to insure, and a nicer daily drive, with 270 brake and 330lb/ft of torque its quicker in real terms than my stg 3 escos, handles better aswell ( in know the escos has more traction) but downthe same DRY back lanes the ST is quicker and takes less effort - maybe a bit boring in comparison, but i've had 7 years of RS character...

Its funny how a lot of Cosworth owners dont like the RS Focus,
and the RS Focus owners dont like the ST Focus.
So if the next model has a name change will that be poor too

My brother has the RS Focus and i have the Focus ST, so there is always some comments.
Im sure we all like our own cars but they are all still ford's

Borgie, (Dean) can you please describe the Focus RS in the correct way for FRS owners.

It's Not...

RS Focus.

It's...

Focus RS

Being as were all being selective.

Noticed how you worded your ST in the correct way.

Dont understand people saying the rs isn`t a good daily driver ? why not?

Mines is used almost daily and its a great car, can drive it like any normal car and when you sink the right peddle it doesn`t hang about

Its defo a great mix of daily driver/performance i would say?

i suppose i would need to drive a st to see what people are talking about?

i had a period i was really into the st, but to many around here now for me to pop up with one.

I prefer the RS over the ST it looks better, more fun to drive and has more 'personality' than the ST.

I prefer the RS for total performance and for a second car it would be my first choice by miles but the ST for a daily driver, the styling of the interiors is a matter of personal taste but the build quality of the ST's interior is streets ahead of the RS and the cabin is a much more comfortable place to be.

I owned an orange ST3 this time last year having traded in an Escos Cos. It was good but something was missing. I then went to an RS Focus which was awesome. My wife called it the 'death trap'. It had been messed about with, exhaust, chip etc. Anyway a couple of cars later and I'm getting another ST3. Frozen white. The rarest and best colour. So imho we can argue all day. They are both great cars, one has the special badge and one is the special car!!
you work which one out!!

This is too true, almost like three years back when you couldn't go anywhere without seeing a Civic Type R I just find the ST boring to look at in any other colour than orange. Vauxhall have got it spot on with the Astra VXR though

the st has more tuning potential IMO for a more reasonable price, and its available in a 5 dr... and colours other than blue...

i'm not taking anything away from the RS, but my last 4 cars have been metallic blue, and i now need 5 doors, its horses for courses

Here are my two, won't go into detail as i get asked 10 times a day to compare them.

As mentioned already the RS is a very raw car. It feels like its an RS. The ST is basically a comfortable Ford that has had a 2.5turbo added. I can throw the RS into corners that the ST cannot handle and understeers. The ST is beautiful to drive but when someone starts playing i wish i had the RS out. The sound of the 5 pot in the ST is great.

All in all two very different cars!!
