Hi there ive just serviced my mates car n he said that his car has been using a lot of petrol it does about 50 2 about a tenners worth of fuel. He had it in a garage n had a diagnostic check on the car n they said it was ok. I noticed 2 day that when u have the heaters on in the car the radiator fan isnt on but as soon as u switch the aircon on the radiator fan comes on like normal but if u switch the air con n heaters off the fan stays on until u switch the car off.is this right cause i think the rad fan sud go off when air con is off.

Not sure about the fan issue but i can tell you now it wont effect the fuel if its not cooling, however what can be affecting it is that his air con is always running there for making the engine work harded then you will use more fuel.

What size engine is it?

Its a 1.6 16v mate well surely the fan sudnt run when the air con is switched off n the engine isnt hot. Well if the fan is on surely the alternator will have 2 work harder causing the mpg 2 b crap.
