03 Focus 1.8TDDI lacking power and rattling/rasping engine noise
I have a 03 focus 1.8TDDI, 150,000miles on the clock. Had been working well up to last year where I had to put a new fuel injector pump in it. Then 3 months later I noticed that it was lacking power took ages to get up to 60/70mph but it would make it eventually and could even do more.
Last week it started making a funny noise too, it hasnt stopped starting and will still drive with the same lack off power. it is now making this rasping/rattling noise. I have a video of it but didnt know how to upload to here.
ANy advice would be helpful as my hubby works long hours and wont get the time to look at it for another few weeks. I have a toddler and dont want to risk driving it down to local garage.
Thanks

Sounds like something to do with the turbo.
Could be as simple as a loose or split boost pipe, particularly the bellows pipe that attach onto the intercooler. It could also be turbo failure.

there was a cracked pipe in the hoses going to turbo. it has now been replaced. do you think maybe this cracked pipe has caused me to blow the turbo as that pipe could have been like that since last year when the fuel pump was replaced. Can you get a turbo reconditioned?

Could have done.
I'd re-check all the boost hoses before you start thinking about replacing the turbo. It is quite a simple set up on the TDDI.
Without hearing the noise it is difficult and nobody on here would want to commit you to the expense of a turbo from a diagnosis over the internet.
See if you can work out a way of posting up the video, go to photobucket or similar , set up an account (they are free).

The bellows boost hose on the right hand side (as you look at it) of the intercooler is hanging off.
That is probably the issue.
Get it re-fixed into position properly and report back. It is a 2 minute job and only needs a screwdriver.
