Default Focus TDCi's

Looking to buy a Mk2 Focus TDCi, likely the 1.8 variant and need to know if there's anything to look for specifically ? Heard the 1.6's are PSA engines and bad news, is this the case ? Getting shot of a Mk3 Mondeo due to injector issues so want to make sure there are no similar problems with either them or the dreaded DMF on the Focus's.

Any help or guidance appreciated chaps.

Cheers.

Check it's got 4 wheels and oil and a 1.8tdci will run forever.

Have put about 500k miles on 3 different 1.8s in the last 6 years, mk1 and mk2 focus and a mk4 mondeo. Only issues I ever had (both on the older focus) were injectors at 165k miles and a knackered starter (from cranking over with shot injectors for a few weeks)

The mk2 1.8 tdci is a great car but the 5 speed box doesn't do the engine many favours. The 6 speed version in the mondeo is awesome though.

Just check service history and make sure there's no dmf judder through the clutch pedal and you can't go too far wrong

Thanks to the Mod who put this in here.

Where no-one will see it as no-one ever goes. Really helpful, seeing as I put it in the General Discussion forum where everyone else asks about cars and their posts seemingly don't get moved, and I stood an half decent chance of getting some sensible replies.

53 reg Focus 1.8 TDCi Estate was most reliable car I ever owned in 46 years of driving.
Only reason I parted with it was the need for larger luggage space.
