Default Focus 1.8 TDCI

Hi all,

Newbie here so i hope you can help me.

I've just done a mate a favour and seem to have shot myself in the foot!!!
The car is a 2008 1.8 TDCI. I've just done a service including fuel filter. When i put the new one in i filled the 'pot' up so it was full when the element went in. When i initially turned it over it fired and it ran for a few seconds. Now, all it does is turn over. After a while the engine malfunction flashed up.
How do i get this to start? Its a bit embarassing!!

Greatly appreciate you help.

Rog

You're gonna need a diesel primer mate, or some kind of syringe that you can put on the outlet of the fuel filter to pull the fuel through the filter, they can be a bit of a pain to bleed at times

use a hand pump conect to filter pipes to drag fuel through like saph1 said then.
crack off injectors one at a time until fuel comes through

Defo gonna need to prime the fuel through. At work we have a electric car fuel pump.We connect it to the fuel filter and power it up from the car battery to get the fuel through.

The TDDI and thw TDCI have different fuel filters.I put a TDDI fuel filter on a TDCI engine before and it wouldnt start for shit.
