Performance cam kits for TDCi?
At the moment I believe I have a faulty valve lifter, so if that is the case
then I thought instead of changing it for another standard Ford one, I would change the camshaft and lifters for performance ones to get more horses.
So I would like to know if it is possible to get them and how much are they?

Ofcourse, later on I will get a remap, but first I thought about adding a performance cam and an upgraded intercooler then get a remap to get the most out of them. I just want to see what I can do to get around 160+hp and around 350nm torque.

I honestly don't think you would get 160bhp out of one mate, my understanding is that the best you could hope for (without spending stupid money !) would be about a “genuine” 140 or if you had a real good one close to 150 but I'm aware that running this sort of power can cause injector problems ?
Please prove me wrong but I just don’t think the old TDCI’s are up to it !

Really? I thought these engines are meant to be quite tough. Some people have made insanely quick Mondeo 2.2 TDCis....

Well, I just thought about doing these as it shouldn't cost too much partly being a DIY job, but I suppose clutch and flywheel will need upgrading too then.
I also thought about replacing the ECU from a Mondeo 1.8 TDCi (125PS mk4), but maybe the engine is slightly different.

You didn't mention the 2.2 engine ! Don't get me wrong, the 1.8 engines and gearboxes are tough, very tough but the fuel system isn't exactly bomb proof and you have to remember that the 1.8 Lynx engine in the early TDCI's is the result of developing a basic desiel engine which is now well over 20 years old, they simply don't have much more left to give ! As for the Mondeo, that's a different engine and more can be gained from it so you could go down that route providing you could find a good one and fit it all in ?
If you want to have a look at just what engines are used and all the relevant figures have a look at this link and you'll see that the engine you first asked about is a bit different to the one you've now mentioned ?

Ah interesting! Thanks for the link... I thought the 2.2 was basically a bigger version of the 1.8 (with different fuel pump etc...)
I don't intend to fit a 2.2 engine in my car, although I thought about it before, it would cost way too much.
Don't worry, one day I will crack the 150+, I'll see what is going on in Europe next year, I hear diesel tuning is big there, and I have family to visit in Hungary.
