What mods can i do to fiesta mk2 1.1
Hi all,
I have seen a fiesta mk2 I want, just wondering what I could do to it for firstly looks (lowering, allloys), noise (exhaust) and then performance (engine)??
Was on the Mini scene but just fed up with it, want a car I want and like not what is easy to get parts for which was my reasoning.
Any advice would be great, thanks John

How long is a piece of string
First job, get underneath and check for rust (boot floor, inner and outer sills, inner wings etc) and get anything crusty rectified.
Lowering is fairy straight forward - I'd buy a full set of springs and shocks and I'd replace all the bushes at the same time as they are probably past it now! Full geo will see it handling like a go-cart!
Wheels, you're limited by the size of the arches. Anything over 15" in diameter looks a bit soft and anything over 6.5" wide will need arch extensions!
Looks - depends what you want, you could keep it OEM with some XR2 parts or go balls out with an aftermarket bodykit!
Not sure whats available exhaust wise for the 1.1 but anything XR2 could be modified to fit the 1.1 downpipe I'm sure.

It does but its far from an easy fit, however not impossible. The 1.6/1.8/2.0 Zetec engines are easier to fit, you can run the standard ford ecu or aftermarket system like Megasquirt or similar!
Don't forget to update your brakes too if you go for a more powerful engine

First off as for looks the mk2 is a nice little motor, you can make it look different buy fitting ghia bumpers or just painting the standard ones, as for wheels all classic ford wheels fit( apart from Granada wheels) If you want a "old skool" look maby some 6x13 4 spoke rs wheels (like those on a capri laser) pepperpots also looks good and where fitted to the mk2 xr2. Lowering is pretty simple as its a basic car. A set of xr2 springs will give it a nice ride height if you want lower there you can get the springs from Burton power. As for exhaust you could ways do it the cheap way and fit a cherry bomb. How ever back in the day there where series x kits available for the 1.1, different carb, intake , exhaust etc... they give a decent power upgrades over the std motor. But hard to find now. So you need to get lucky on ebay As for engine swaps you could fit the 1.3 version of your engine or a 1.6 crossflow from a mk1 xr2, this will keep it period looking under the bonnet. Then there are the 1.4 and 1.6 cvh engines, a pretty basic fit and the 1.6 will make 120 Bhp with out much work. Then there is the zetec. This can be a big power engine that will mate your car bloody mental, harder to fit though.
Hope that helps
