Default Zetec S help

Got the dubious honour of going to help a mate look at a Zetec S tomorrow, just wondered what in particular to look out for... Not ever had any experience of Fiestas, so don't know what to look for... I've not even seen pictures of it, all I know it's silver, 1.6 and 350 quid. I'm sure it'll be a pile of rusting shit at that price, but I'll check the obvious stuff....

you have 2 types phase 1 and phase 2 and they suffer mental with rear arch rust like the puma, phase 2 have the black top engine and normally have better trim and gizmos and are cheaper to tax than the phase 1, apart from usual stuff tbh they are pretty easy to inspect as its all common sense Stu

Thanks mate, usual things then really?
I'm thinking it's an early one, judging by the price... Apparently, it's rust free!? Hmmm...

I'm ever the sceptic when it comes to somebody saying rust free on these

I used to own one, W747 XEV. A bad one will chew through some oil and as above check for rust. Steering wheels fade really quickly (the red or the blue on the sides).

Check out this buyers guide also.

Thanks guys, it's a Y reg, don't know if that's a phase 2, but got a black top...? Got rust round the rear arches, front bumpers got damage round the fog lamp, the steering wheels not too bad though! Lol
They ended up buying it, gave 300 quid, going to use it to smoke about in and give it a tidy up over the winter...
