We are changing the gearbox on our Fiesta Xr2i 1991, thrust bearing stuck on, screaming and jumping out of gear. Can anyone tell us whether the replacement gearbox should be in gear or in neutral? Can get the old one into neutral but can't find it on the replacement. It has come off another Xr2i and we've put on a new thrust bearing. Just not sure about the gear.
